Emerging Leader fellows are first- and second-generation immigrant young adults (between 18-30) interested in bringing diverse leadership to their churches and communities. Fellows spend a weekend of discernment at Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, CA, then are paired with mentors, meet monthly online, and are supported as they further explore spiritually rooted leadership for social change through paid internships.

I've been given an opportunity to explore my calling to help those in need and to share what I've learned with others. I've also learned to thrive in an open and affirming environment that allows me to express myself and share my voice with unique individuals.Megan Zari2017 Emerging Leader Fellow
I am filled with gratitude for the mentors and facilitators that have supported our cohort in this endeavor. It has been a unique opportunity to connect with people and clergy who understand the inherent challenges for people of color and how those stories fit into vocational discernment. The internship has opened the door to explore facets of ministry that otherwise would have been difficult when one does not know where to begin to initiate the conversation.Judith Johnson2017 Emerging Leader Fellow
My internship has allowed me to work closely with a cause that I care deeply about, immigration...This program has really opened my eyes and given me so much to apply to my work in my church and community. I have met like minded people who share similar thoughts and ideals with me, which is refreshing coming from a place where my individuality was disregarded.Megan Zari2017 Emerging Leader Fellow
