Supervisor: Sharon Fennema, Assistant Professor of Worship and Director of Worship Life

Job description:

The Chapel Assistant will offer support to the Office of Worship life including:

  • Any elements of worship design and leadership that the Assistant wishes to develop more fully, including worship curation, liturgical writing, space design and visual art, leadership capacity, etc.;
  • Caring for the sacred space of Buckham Chapel;
  • Maintaining worship materials and storage spaces in Chapel of the Great Commission, Buckham Chapel and lower chapel storage room;
  • Assisting with the creation of bulletins, posters, and other print materials related to worship life;
  • Facilitating sacred space design, set-up and break-down for weekly chapel services;
  • Working with Worship Director and Music Director on creating, planning and implementing special worship services like Lessons & Carols, Holy Week, Earl Lectures and Commencement;
  • Managing AV requests for chapel and other worship services;
  • Curating a community worship blog and working on advertising materials including, print and social media;
  • Coordinating volunteers for planning and leading chapel worship services;
  • Creating and leading worship opportunities for the community outside of Tuesday Community Worship.

Qualifications: Experience in planning and leading worship preferred.

Hours per week: 8-10

Hourly rate: $ 15.00

Period of employment: Spring Semester 2019

Preferred workdays: Availability on Mondays & Tuesdays, required
