Blyth Barnow, recent graduate and Paul Wesley Yinger Preaching Award winner, will host a workshop on “A Faithful Response to Domestic Violence,” co-sponsored by the United Church of Christ and PSR. The workshop description follows:

In this interactive workshop we will explore what a faithful response to domestic violence looks like in congregation and community settings. Using an intersectional lens we will begin with a brief training on domestic violence 101. From there we will brainstorm creative, practical, and empowered ways to respond to violence and support Survivors. What resources do we have? What do we already know? What about Survivors who are Queer? How do we think about violence theologically? How is the Divine calling us to respond?

The issues of religious freedom, human rights, pluralism, faith and public policy, media, executive orders, judicial restraint, and congressional ethics are being engaged today at a heightened level in the public square. Students learned alongside a multi-racial, multi-cultural, multi-faith network of organizations, learning how and why religious leaders engage in public policy advocacy as ecumenical and interfaith partners.
